Orissa lost to Bihar by 10 wickets on the last day of their three-day Ranji Trophy East Zone match at Baripada Stadium in Baripada today. This was Orissa’s 54th overall defeat in 98 matches in Ranji Trophy and 22nd defeat in 31 matches against Bihar.
Opting to bat after captain V Venkatram won the toss, Bihar capitalized on the lackluster bowling performance of the home team to muster an imposing total of 451. As many as five batsmen scored a half-century each for Bihar.
In reply, Orissa got all out for 245 to concede a lead of 206 runs. Devashish Mahanti was only Orissa batsman to score a half-century. Forced to follow on, Orissa folded up for 213 in the second innings and escaped the emrarrassment of an innings defeat. However, Bihar clinched victory by chasing down a small target of eight runs without losing any wicket. Dubey led Orissa for the first time, replacing Harmohan Praharaj.
